More Than A Job
A job is a serious commitment. You spend more time working than you spend breathing, so it's a good idea to make sure you have a plentiful oxygen supply next to your desk.
Extract from the 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene and Joost Elffers:
Law 16 - Use Absence to Increase Respect and Honor - Too much circulation makes the price go down: The more you are seen and heard from, the more common you appear. If you are already established in a group, temporary withdrawal from it will make you more talked about, even more admired. You must learn when to leave. Create value through scarcity.
Your job is important to you. You wouldn't leave your wallet lying around for someone else to pick up, so why treat your job any other way? And don't forget, if you leave your job in a parked car in the hot sun, open the window a crack.
